fast food, fast fun, fast decline
In recent years, as a society we have come to see the downsides of fast food. Not only is the food itself not great for you, but it also takes something away from a meal time. Sitting down with you partner or friends, chatting between cooking times. Helping out with dishes. Pulling out a surprise desert. Slow food is on the rise, and it’s welcome.
Drawing on this example, we are in the era of fast fun. Short video content, endless choices of movies and music. What if we had the same revelation as we had with fast food. The time in between the fun is what gives the fun it’s fun.
Daoists know this. Dark doesn’t exist without light, and couldn’t be appreciated without it. Warm would feel dull without cold.
Throw yourself head first into struggle and the boring. Take part in some slow fun.
