He wrote about the roman-empire after being captured, and what them them last.
In his work he described a cycle that seemed to follow most of civilization.
Monarchy > tyranny Aristocracy > oligarchy Democracy > demagogy Anarchy > monarchy
The roman empire mixed a few of these types of rule, and lasted longer. However it still fell to civil war.
